The $1,000-per-day pretreatment fine on the same schedule belongs to the industrial pretreatment chapter (13.08), not the FOG chapter — it is not a restaurant number and we do not quote it as one.
What the ordinance adds on top
- Each day is a separate offense and violations are misdemeanors (Sec. 13.40.250).
- Noncompliance charges may be assessed under Sec. 13.40.180 “in addition to and not in lieu of” penalties.
- The city can do the pump-out and bill you — the FSE “jointly and severally with the property owner” owes the city’s costs.
- Damage to the sewer or treatment plant from a violation becomes a debt to the city.
- Sewer service can be suspended or terminated for a grease-caused blockage or for maintenance violations (Sec. 13.40.230). Reconsideration must be requested in writing within 10 days.
Compared with a service schedule
A year of interceptor service for a typical restaurant runs in the low thousands. One re-inspection, one second citation and one city-performed pump-out billed back to you approaches that before counting a day of lost sewer service. The calculator and price ranges are on one page so the comparison is easy.
